Cleaning the house

It was a weekend and my mom was doing her regular cleaning.  She was already done with the garden, the rooms upstairs and living room.  For the kitchen,  while she was mopping the floor she suddenly slipped, she couldn’t stand up immediately  and yelled for help.  We got her up and helped  her on to the couch.

We called the family doctor and asked him to come over.  After thoroughly checking up mom, and crossing out the possibility of fractures and trauma, he said that it was probably only a Pulled Muscle, particularly a Calf Strain.  He advised her to rest, and put an ice every five to ten minutes, compress and elevate her lower leg to prevent further swelling.  She could experience mild Groin Pain, since the slipping caused a lateral movement and overstretched her adductor muscles.  We thought that muscle strains are for athletes only, but we were wrong, doing household chores can also cause them.
