This can pose a very serious health risk if left untreated and if too much polluted air is breathed in time and again.
3. It creates more potential for us to get sick. As your body is not naturally defending itself and fighting off the very things that make us sick, this puts you at a potentially higher risk. Your immune system is weakened and not working properly, and this makes you vulnerable to getting sick much more easily. When you are vulnerable like this and you come into contact with germs or viruses, you are more likely to get sick as your body can’t work properly to fight them off.
4. It can increase your chances for heart disease. When you breathe in polluted air, you are ingesting free radicals. These are the substances that can potentially lead to heart disease. If too much of this polluted air full of free radicals is breathed in over time, this can lead to heart disease or other heart problems. The potential damage to the cardiovascular system is especially alarming if you have a family history of heart disease.
5. It can lead to breathing disorders such as asthma. It only makes sense that as you are breathing in polluted air and your lungs are becoming damaged, that you are more likely to develop a related problem as a result. You are breathing in air that can over time damage the lungs and the tissue around them, so there is a greater likelihood of developing asthma or other breathing disorders.
We know that air pollution is bad for us, but perhaps never realized just how devastating it can truly be.
